The Copas family has been deeply rooted in Cookham for over 300 years, with a long tradition of working the land and adapting to the needs of their community. While their farming legacy began in 1901, it was Tom A. Copas who transformed the family’s future when he reared his first flock of turkeys in 1957, pioneering traditional high-welfare methods that would set a new standard in British farming.
Tom A. Copas was more than a farmer—he was a champion of sustainable agriculture, high-welfare livestock rearing, and rural business innovation. He was instrumental in founding the Traditional Farmfresh Turkey Association (TFTA) and was honored with numerous industry awards for his contributions. His commitment to excellence made Copas Traditional Turkeys a household name, recognized by leading chefs and food critics alike.
Following his passing in 2021, his son Tom C. Copas took the helm, carrying forward his father’s vision while ensuring that The Copas Partnership continues to thrive in a changing world. Tom’s leadership has upheld the family’s reputation for exceptional animal welfare, sustainability, and dedication to quality, while also embracing innovation to keep the business moving forward.
Beyond farming, the Copas family has always been dedicated to community and conservation. Their stewardship of Remenham Farm, home to Henley Royal Regatta’s iconic Start Line, reflects their commitment to preserving and enhancing the landscape for future generations. Today, under Tom’s leadership, The Copas Partnership continues to balance tradition with progress, ensuring that the family’s legacy remains strong for years to come.
